MOPPETS Guidelines
Our MOPPETS program is critical to the success of our MOPS organization. Without the dedication of our MOPPETS volunteers and workers, we could not perform our ministry. The following are a few guidelines that are essential to the care and development of our children.
- Please label your child’s belongings: especially bottles, pacifiers, drinking cups and diapers.
- Be sure to drop your child off at the door to their room and sign them in.
- Have your child finish all food and dispose of gum before arriving.
- Please pick your child up immediately when dismissed, and sign them out.
- We will not allow your child to cry for more than 10 minutes for the well-being of your child and the other children around him or her. A worker will come get you if your child needs you.
- Please try NOT to bring toys from home. If a familiar item is needed for comfort, please limit it to one item and be sure it is labeled.
- Please remember to thank our MOPPETS workers and volunteers. We really appreciate their hard work and commitment to MOPS and want them to know how important they are.
When Your Child Cries . . .
We would love for your child to take advantage of our age-appropriate activities and lessons in our moppets program. We understand you may need to keep them with you at times. If you desire to have your child with you, please be sensitive to those around you. If your child becomes fussy, you may sit in the back or exit to the foyer where you can still hear the speaker. Thank you for your cooperation.
MOPPETS Snacks
Please bring one package of the following at the beginning of each semester (fall & spring) as this is the snack provided for our children throughout the year.
Last name beginning A-L: Animal Crackers or Graham Crackers
Last name beginning M-Z: Wheat Thins or pretzels
If you have an infant, and would rather, please bring a package of fruit/veggie rice puffs. (If your child has specific dietary needs please bring appropriate foods for snack time.)

MOPPETS Disciplinary Policy
Our goal for discipline is to maintain a fair and safe environment that encourages growth and development of the child’s self–esteem. That environment also encourages the building of interpersonal competence and fosters self–discipline.
- Rules shall be clear, understandable and explained to the child before and at the time of disciplinary action, and shall be consistently applied.
- Discipline shall include positive guidance, re–direction, modeling of constructive handling of feelings, and resolution of interpersonal conflict, as well as setting clear limitations and use of logical non-punitive consequences.
- Discipline may include non–punitive restraint to insure safety and to prevent destruction of property. It may include brief, supervised separation from the rest of the class in the form of “time–out” or withdrawal of certain privileges.
- If a child develops a biting habit, it will be dealt with on an individual basis. If your child bites other children twice in one day, you will be asked to pick up your child. If the problem persists, you may be asked to refrain from using MOPPETS until your child’s biting habit is under control.
MOPPETS reserves the right to deny admission to any child. A child may be admitted on a trial basis. A child may also be asked to leave the program should his/her behavior become so disruptive that the child endangers the well–being or emotional health of another child, themselves or a staff member.
Children are expected to follow the rules, which provide safety and well–being to all of the children.
Teachers are expected to follow through with praise as well.
Moppets Attendance Policy:
Because we are forced to place moms who want to join MOPS on a waiting list due to full childcare classes, please be aware of the following policy:
We will be keeping an attendance record for all Moppets classes (This will only apply to children 5 months and older). If your child misses 3 consecutive days in Moppets, you will receive a phone call from the Moppets Coordinator reminding you that if they miss that 4th consecutive day, their name will be removed from the class roster so another child can take their place, and a mom that needs to join MOPS has that opportunity.
To avoid the possibility of your child losing their spot in class, please remember to sign them in and out each meeting, and put their nametag on them.
Please let us know as soon as possible if your child will no longer be coming to their class. This way another child, and mom, can take advantage of what Moppets, and MOPS, can offer them.
If you have any questions, please contact
MOPPETS Coordinator Judy Dreiling 687-6336,
or MOPS Coordinator Marcie James 686-8745.
Thank You for Your Cooperation!
